Personally, I think IRC is a sad place to
be unless you’re chatting with people you know in real life. The
people I’ve met there are either perverts, gays, lians, bengs or
sad teenage boys trying to snare a girlfriend. It’s really quite
funny to see some kid say “Does anyone want to be my girlfriend?”
on the main chatroom. It’s a fact that 99% of the users logged on
to IRC are guys. Just try using a femenine
nickname and you see your IRC light up like a
X’mas tree. And the kind of lewd messages that the guys use to
start the conversation just makes me feel sorry for them. I mean
come on, I’m sure there’re better things to do on IRC than to look for sex. But then again, I’ve never had
a nice conversation with anyone on IRC. Most
of the people I’ve talked to can’t seem to spell or speak properly.
The amount of grammar mistakes is atrocious! No, don’t get me
wrong. I don’t look down on people who get low marks for English. I
just find it really tough to understand the lians and bengs on
IRC.
